# Delete vehicle record

`DELETE /api/members/vehicle-details/{vehicleId}`

- **Products:** Operator (`FOH`)
- **Features:** Front of House Generic Access (`FOHGENERIC`)

HTML version: [Delete vehicle record](https://support.gladstonesoftware.cloud/reference/members/delete-vehicle-record)

## Overview

Removes one vehicle registration held against a member — for example when a member sells a car, or a registration was recorded wrongly. Vehicle registrations are used for car park and barrier access, so deleting one withdraws that vehicle's access.

Note that the member is **not** part of the URL. You address the vehicle by its own record id, which you get from [Retrieve member vehicle details](get-member-vehicle-details.md); the endpoint deletes whichever member's vehicle carries that id. Take care to hold on to the right id.

A member may hold several vehicles but cannot hold the same registration twice, so deleting a record is also how you free a registration up before recording it again.

A successful call returns `204 No Content` with no body.

## Endpoint

`DELETE {base_url}/api/members/vehicle-details/{vehicleId}`

`{base_url}` is the environment URL issued to your integration. See [Authenticating with Gladstone APIs](../../guides/authenticating-with-gladstone-apis.md).

## Path parameters

| Name | Type | Required | Description |
|------|------|----------|-------------|
| `vehicleId` | integer (int32) | Yes | The id of the vehicle record itself, as returned by [Retrieve member vehicle details](get-member-vehicle-details.md) — not the member id and not the registration plate. Must be a whole number: a non-numeric value, or one containing punctuation, is rejected with `400` before anything is looked up. There is no ownership check against your token here, so the id is the only thing standing between you and another member's record. |

## Sample request

```bash title="cURL"
curl -X DELETE '{base_url}/api/members/vehicle-details/{vehicleId}' \
  -H 'Authorization: Bearer {accessToken}' \
  -H 'X-Use-SSO: true'
```

## Errors

| Status | Meaning | When |
|--------|---------|------|
| `400` | Bad request | `vehicleId` is not a valid integer — for example a registration plate or a string containing punctuation was sent in its place. The request is rejected before anything is looked up. |
| `404` | Not found | No vehicle record exists with that id. Returned with an empty body. Deleting a record that has already been deleted therefore gives `404`, not a silent success. |
| `500` | Internal server error | An unexpected server-side failure while reading or deleting the record. |
