# Switching Customer Logins to Email and Password Before Go Goes Live

HTML version: [Switching Customer Logins to Email and Password Before Go Goes Live](https://support.gladstonesoftware.cloud/plus2/switching-go-login-to-email-and-password-in-plus2)

## Problem
If your old app or Connect uses **member ID + PIN** for customer logins, you need to switch it to **email + password** before Go goes live, because customers log in to Go with email and password.

## Resolution

1. **Warn customers and check their emails**
   - Customers will need to reset their passwords, so warn them first and check the emails held are up to date.

2. **Open Connect settings**
   - In Plus2, go to `Configuration > System > Config > Connect settings`.

3. **Change the login to email**
   - Change the login from member ID to email.

4. **Set the password complexity**
   - *Low*: 6 characters.
   - *Medium*: 6 with an upper-case letter.
   - *Strong*: 8+ with upper and lower case, a number and a special character.

5. **Update email templates and apps**
   - Update any email templates that use the member ID or PIN placeholders to use the home email.
   - Third-party apps need the new password-reset link too.

## Notes

- After the switch, the first login forces a password reset before customers can continue.
- Second-language text held in Plus2 for Connect isn't pulled into Go; re-enter it through Operator translations. See [Welsh Translations in Gladstone Go](../gooperator/welsh-translations-in-gladstone-go.md).
