Creating Resource Products in Plus2
Problem
Administrators need to create the bookable resources (courts, pool lanes, studios, rooms or instructors) that make up booking sheets. Each resource product is a column on the booking sheet.
Resolution
Decide how many resource products you need
- Create a separate resource product for anything that must be booked, priced, closed, shown as a column or reported independently. For example, four independently bookable lanes means four resource products, not one "pool".
Create the resource product
- Go to
Configuration > Bookings > Resource products(this defaults the type to Standard), then select New. The Products list shows the same records.
- Go to
Enter the ID and description
- ID: pattern
Z[SITE_CODE][RESOURCE_CODE][SEQ], e.g.ZABMEET01. TypingZin the ID search then lists all resource products. See Naming Conventions for Plus2 IDs and Descriptions. - Description: customer-friendly (e.g. "Main Pool", "Studio 2"), because descriptions can appear online.
- ID: pattern
Set the site group and calendar
- Site group: the site.
- Calendar: normally the Standard calendar, with the activity's calendar controlling booking times. Select or create a resource calendar only where your site uses them; see Plus2 Calendars, Time Bands and Opening Hours.
Set the resource type and department
- Bookings resource: Standard (or Density for gym density).
- Department: the booking department/cost centre (e.g. Z-book), which isn't normally reported on.
Set prices
- Prices: tick all price levels at £0. A price here is added on top of the price product (e.g. £5 resource + £25 pitch = £30).
- Review optional settings; participation fields usually don't apply to pure resource products.
Save
- Click Save.
Copying similar resources
Copy a verified resource
- Open the verified resource product or booking-sheet item and select Save As (or the copy command).
- Change the ID sequence and the description.
- Confirm the site group, the calendar, the resource type and every inherited setting, then save.
- Repeat for the remaining resources.
Add the copies to the booking sheet
- Add all copies to the booking sheet, then count the products on the sheet against the physical resources.
Notes
- Inherited site, calendar and availability settings are the most common copy errors.
- Every new price level must be ticked on every resource product (and on any retail product it should buy).
- Impact on Go Operator: in Centre Management a resource product is called an Area. Block bookings and booking exceptions made in Centre Management use these areas.
- Impact on Go Book: for party bookings, a price level only appears on Go Book if it is ticked on both the regular (price) product and the resource product.
- Impact on 360: resource products appear as columns on the 360 Centre Manager booking sheet.
- Impact on access control: resource products are used in GMC entry point profile Resources allow lists, so booked members can pass a booking-only door.
