What does the uncoupling of the Hardware Service from Gladstone360 mean to you?

We've changed the relationship that our Hardware Service has with our Gladstone360 POS module to make our upgrades more seamless and efficient. This article will explain exactly what this means and what you can expect.

What's changed?

Previously, whenever a new version of Gladstone360 POS was released, the Hardware Service on each PC also needed to be updated. This was because both applications had to run on the same version.

We’ve now made improvements to "uncouple" Gladstone360 POS from the Hardware Service. As a result, the Hardware Service will only need updating if there’s a specific software change — not every time Gladstone360 POS is updated.

What you need to know?

If you are running a version of Hardware Service earlier than 4.23 you will be prompted to upgrade to the latest version. There have been no functional changes of the Hardware Service since 4.23, so anyone with this version or higher should not be prompted.

For those wanting to test this feature:

  • For customers running a Hardware Service less than version 4.23 - once a new version of G360 POS has been installed, the user should be prompted to update the Hardware Service.
  • For customers running a Hardware Service version 4.23 or greater - once a new version of G360 POS has been installed, there should be no prompt to update the Hardware Service.
