Honeywell 7190g Scanner Configuration

This article guides you through the programming of a Honeywell 7190g scanner for Windows 10 and Windows 11

Overview

For a scanner to work correctly with Gladstone360 or Plus2 it must be seen by the Windows operating system as a serial com port. To convert a USB connected 7190g scanner to a serial com port device two steps are needed.

  1. A software driver needs to see the scanner and create a virtual com port in Windows device manager
  2. The scanner must be configured as a serial device by scanning a Honeywell Programming Barcode

The steps below will guide through this process.

Software Driver

For Windows 10 and Windows 11 Operating System no additional driver needs installing. The inbuilt driver within the windows operating system should identify a correctly configured scanner and create a com port automatically.

Scanner Configuration

  1. Plug in the scanner to an available USB port
  2. Wait for the operating system to identify the scanner and initialisation to complete
    (30 seconds approximately)
  3. Scan the USB Serial Programming Barcode shown here

  4. 7190g-Honeywell-SerialBarcodeThe scanner will automatically reconfigure itself as a serial com port device.
During the process the device will automatic reset a few times indicated by flashing LEDs and a series of Beep Tones (60 seconds approximately)
  5. Once complete unplug the scanner to power it off
  6. Waiting 10 seconds for the Windows Operating to identify the device is disconnected
  7. Plug the scanner back in to the same USB port originally used
  8. Wait for the Windows Operating System to identify the scanner again
    (30 seconds approximately)
  9. The setup is now complete
