1. Introduction
Group memberships include multiple people in one membership, e.g. a couples membership or a family membership. In a group member, there is a primary member who purchases the membership. The primary member adds the other members to their group and can book classes and activities for them, if allowed.
To use group memberships, you need to:
- Enable linked memberships in Operator
- Create a group membership in Plus2
- Setup the linked member invite email
- Assign the membership tags in Operator
- (Optional) Change the group membership size
- (Optional) Enable the book for other features in Operator
2. Enable linked memberships in Operator
Enabling linked memberships introduces the Linked tab to a member's My Account page. This allows members to see others in their group membership. It also allows group memberships to be bought in Go Join.
To enable linked memberships:
From within Operator, go to Configuration > Modules > Configure. Search for Enable Linked Memberships and select Manage.
Within the All Sites field, enter 1 if you wish it to be active or 0 for it to be inactive.
3. How to create a group membership in Plus2
Group memberships are created by enabling the Apply To Links option in the settings. Other than this, they are set up the exact same as individual memberships.
Please note: Memberships are called Subscriptions in Plus2.
To set up your membership, log into Plus2, then:
- Go to Configuration > Financial > Subscriptions > Subscription types.
- Set up your membership to your specifications.
- Select the Apply To Links option in the Creation/Renewal tab.
- Ensure you also enable Purchase via Web under the Web tab, so that it will appear in Go Join.
4. How to set up the linked member invite email
When a primary member adds an existing member to their group, the existing member will receive an email invite to connect. The member can click on the link in the invite which will take them to their account where they can accept or reject the invitation.
Reviewing/editing the email template.
A default template for this email is included in your account which you can review and/or edit as required.
- Go to Automation Portal > Email Templates.
- Select Linked Member Invitation from the list.
This will open the template in the email manager application. - Customise the email and select Save.
Creating the business rule to send the email
This email invite is set up as a business rule in your Operator application.
- Go to Configuration > Automation > Business Rules.
- Click the Add button in the top-right corner.
- Enter a name and select Type > Link Member Invitation.
- Enter a description and select Action type > Email.
- Select Email templates > Linked Member Invitation and select Save.
5. How to assign membership tags in Operator
For memberships to be activated in Go Join, you need to assign the memberships with Tags. These tags ensure the system displays the right memberships based on the options selected when someone is purchasing a membership. For Group Memberships we recommend having a Member Type tag of group, family, couple, etc, to ensure your members know that it is a group membership.
Assigning Membership Tags is covered in Configuring Go Join knowledge article.
6. How to change the group membership size
The default group membership size is 4. You can change this across your account to suit the size of group membership you want to offer.
- Log into Operator and go to Configuration > Modules > Configure.
- Search Maximum linked members and select.
- Set All sites to the group membership size you require and select Save.
7. How to enable Book for Others
Enabling Book for Others allows the primary member to book for other members in their group membership by default. Adult members in a group can prevent the primary member from booking for them, however, junior members cannot. To enable book for others:
From within Operator:
- Go to Configuration > Modules > Configure and search for Enable Book for Others.
- Select Manage and within the All sites field, enter 1 if you wish it to be active or 0 for it to be inactive.
