# Single API - Date and Time Format

HTML version: [Single API - Date and Time Format](https://support.gladstonesoftware.cloud/kb/single-api-date-and-time-format)

## Problem
When retrieving date and time information from the Single API, you may notice differences between the displayed time and your local time, especially due to time zone differences and British Summer Time (BST) adjustments.

## Resolution
1. The Single API returns date and time values in UTC format:
   `YYYY-MM-DDThh:mm:ssZ`
2. When interpreting API responses:
    - During Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), the time returned matches the local UK time (UTC = GMT).
      - Example: 4th January 2025, 1:47pm GMT is shown as `2025-01-04T13:47:00Z`.
    - During British Summer Time (BST), the time returned is one hour behind the local UK time (UTC = BST - 1).
      - Example: 4th May 2025, 1:47pm BST is shown as `2025-05-04T12:47:00Z`.
3. Always account for daylight saving time changes when reviewing or cross-referencing configuration data involving dates and times.

## Notes
- Make sure your code adjusts for BST (daylight saving changes), since all dates returned by the API are in UTC.
