GoMobile: Regenerative QR Access Control

Problem

Members using the GoMobile app may want to use the regenerative QR code for access control. Sometimes, members may experience issues such as API errors, invalid swipes, or difficulties accessing with the QR code.

Root Cause

Resolution

  1. Using the Regenerative QR Code in GoMobile:

    • The regenerative QR code is displayed on the "Entry" screen once the member logs into the GoMobile app with their standard login details.
    • The QR code visibly regenerates every two minutes, with a timer shown on screen.
    • The QR code is designed to prevent duplication via screenshots or video calls, as it changes frequently.
  2. Offline Functionality:

    • If the device is offline, the app uses the MobileOfflineID stored locally. The QR code will appear to refresh, but will not actually change until the device reconnects online.
  3. Configuration Steps:

    • In Gladstone360, ensure the 'Allow Additional Cards' option in the Attendance module is turned on for all sites using GoMobile.
    • Make sure the MobileID and MobileOfflineID additional card types are available in the system.
    • Activate the Member additional cards module if all members receive invalid swipes at access control when using the QR code.
  4. Troubleshooting Steps:

    • If a member sees an API error on the Entry screen but the QR code is still displayed, the error does not affect QR functionality. It can be caused by the app trying to delete a MobileID or MobileOfflineID that does not exist.
    • If one member reports issues with QR code access, check that MobileID and MobileOfflineID additional cards are present on their member record.
    • If all members are experiencing issues, verify the configuration settings as described above.
  5. Access Control Function:

    • The QR code works the same way as a plastic card or wristband for Gladstone360 Access Control.
    • Standard entry rules and bookings apply.
  6. Monitoring:

    • QR code scans can be monitored in the access monitor within Gladstone360.
