GoMobile: Developer Accounts
Problem
If you need a single-tenant version of GoMobile (an app for your organisation alone), you must set up your own Apple and Google Developer accounts. Your GoMobile app is then published under your organisation's name, which makes it easier for your members to find and download.
Resolution
Set Up Organisation Developer Accounts
- Create Organisation developer accounts with both Apple and Google. Individual accounts are not sufficient.
- Anyone can sign up for these accounts, but the organisation and the "Account Holder" must complete identity verification.
Apple Developer Account
- Annual fee: approximately £79.
- If this payment is not maintained, Apple will remove the apps from the app store.
- Sign up at: Apple Developer Enroll.
Google Developer Account
- Requires a standard Google user account (Google email address).
- One-off fee: $29.
- Sign up at: Google Play Console Signup.
Verification Process
- Timeline: The sign-up and basic verification process can take up to 2 weeks. Start as early as possible.
- For Individuals:
- Photo Identification (Passport or Driving Licence)
- Proof of address
- Employee reference for the organisation
- Contact details (email and phone number)
- For Organisations:
- Organisation's legal name
- Organisation's legal HQ address
- D-U-N-S Number (see: D-U-N-S Number)
- One of the following acceptable documents:
- Certificate of incorporation
- Tax registration
- Letter from government body
Process Notes
- Apple: All sign-up and verification are completed before gaining access to the developer account.
- Google: Users gain access after the basic sign-up and D-U-N-S verification but must complete additional verification before an app can be deployed.
- Organisation verification can be challenging if you are part of a large institution or trade under multiple organisation names.
Granting Gladstone Access
- Give Gladstone access to your developer accounts so that Gladstone can deploy and support your app.
- User Access:
- Invite
appsupport@gladstonesoftware.co.ukto both your Apple and Google Developer accounts. This allows Gladstone to view app details and deployments. - Make sure the appsupport account can use the multi-factor authentication devices or numbers required to log in.
- The developer portals are:
- Invite
- API Access:
- Provide Gladstone with API access, in the form of API keys. Gladstone needs these to automate deployment of your app.
- Supply the API keys to Gladstone's project management and infrastructure teams before the initial app build.
Notes
- The sign-up and verification process may take up to 2 weeks—begin early.
- Organisation verification can be complex, especially if your organisation has multiple entities.
- Developer portals use multi-factor authentication; ensure the necessary device or number is accessible.
