# Navigating Gladstone Reporting

HTML version: [Navigating Gladstone Reporting](https://support.gladstonesoftware.cloud/kb/gladstone-reporting-navigation)

## Problem

You want to understand how to navigate Gladstone Reporting, locate dashboards and widgets, and access the detailed information available behind reports.

## Resolution

### What will I see when I open Gladstone Reporting?

After signing in, Gladstone Reporting provides access to your available reporting content through the main application screen.

The content available to you may vary according to your permissions and can include standard Gladstone Reporting dashboards together with bespoke reporting content configured for your organisation.

### How do I find the standard Gladstone Reporting dashboards?

Use the **Bookmarks** area on the left-hand side of Gladstone Reporting to access your available dashboards.

Expand **Live Data Model Dashboards**, followed by **Dashboards**, to locate the standard dashboards available to you.

These can include:

- Attendance Dashboard
- Bookings Dashboard
- Contacts Dashboard
- Configuration Dashboard
- Prospects Dashboard
- Sales Dashboard
- Subscriptions Dashboard
- Payments Summary Dashboard
- Subscriptions Summary Dashboard

The dashboards available to individual users may vary according to their permissions.

### What is a Dashboard?

A **Dashboard** is a collection of related reports designed to provide information about a particular area of your organisation.

For example, the Sales Dashboard contains reports relating to sales, payments, debt and other financial activity, while the Bookings Dashboard contains reports relating to bookings, attendance and resource utilisation.

Each Dashboard contains individual reports known as **Widgets**.

### What is a Widget?

A **Widget** is an individual report, measure or metric displayed within a Dashboard.

Depending on the information being presented, a Widget may appear as:

- a numerical indicator;
- a table;
- a bar or column chart;
- a line or area chart;
- a pie chart;
- another graphical representation.

Widgets provide a summary of reporting information. Where supported, users can access a **Drill Down** to investigate the underlying information in greater detail.

### What is a Drill Down?

A **Drill Down** provides additional detail behind the information summarised by a Widget.

Depending on the Widget, a Drill Down may provide:

- underlying records;
- additional tables or charts;
- more detailed reporting dimensions;
- filters for further analysis;
- options for exporting data.

### How do I open a Drill Down?

The method used to open a Drill Down depends on the type of Widget.

For a **numerical indicator**, select the value displayed within the Widget where Drill Down functionality is available.

For a **graphical Widget**, right-click the relevant chart element and select the available **Jump to _drill** option.

When a Drill Down is opened from a particular chart element, the report may automatically be filtered according to the element selected. Review the filters within the Drill Down if the results appear more restricted than expected.

### Why can I only see some of the records in a table?

Large reporting tables may be divided into pages to make the information easier to display and to avoid unnecessarily long loading times.

Where pagination is used, navigate through the available pages to view additional records.

If the complete dataset is required for further analysis, use the available export functionality where appropriate.

## Notes

- Dashboard and reporting content may vary according to user permissions and customer configuration.
- Some Widgets do not provide Drill Down functionality.
- Drill Downs may contain different filters from their parent Dashboard.
- Opening a Drill Down from a selected chart element may automatically apply a filter to the resulting report.
- Separate Knowledge Base articles provide guidance on using filters and exporting data from Gladstone Reporting.
