Understanding the Attendance Dashboard in Gladstone Reporting

Problem

You want to understand what information is available within the Gladstone Reporting Attendance Dashboard and the difference between Attendance and Usage reporting.

Resolution

What does the Attendance Dashboard show?

The Attendance Dashboard provides reporting on customer visits and activity participation, allowing attendance to be analysed using both recorded Entry Point movements and configured Usage values.

The Dashboard contains reports covering areas such as:

Where supported, select a Widget to access its Drill Down for additional detail.

What is Attendance?

Attendance represents recorded visits associated with contact records moving through configured Entry Points.

Entry Points can represent physical access locations such as:

Attendance can be recorded when a contact interacts with the configured access point, for example by scanning, tapping or swiping appropriate media, or where attendance is recorded by a member of staff.

Attendance reporting can therefore be used to understand customer visits and patterns such as busy and quiet periods.

What is Usage?

Usage provides an alternative measure of participation based on Usage values configured against Products.

Usage can be useful where a single activity represents multiple participants and an Entry Point movement alone may not accurately represent the number of people participating.

For example, a 5-a-Side Football Product could be configured with a Usage value representing the expected number of participants.

Usage reporting can therefore provide a different view of participation from contact-based Attendance.

What is the difference between Attendance and Usage?

Attendance and Usage represent different ways of measuring participation and should not be assumed to produce the same result.

Attendance is based on recorded contact visits through Entry Points.

Usage is based on configured Usage values associated with Products and Activities.

The appropriate measure depends on the reporting question being asked.

For example:

Which Attendance reports are available?

What additional information is available in Attendance Drill Downs?

Attendance Drill Downs provide more detailed analysis of the attendance summarised by Dashboard Widgets, including individual attendance records, unique contacts and customer information.

Depending on the report, additional information can include:

Some Drill Downs also provide aggregated analysis such as attendance by Age Group, Gender, Site, Entry Point and Contact.

The information and analysis available depends on the individual Widget and Drill Down selected.
