## Problem
You need to connect Power BI Desktop to a Snowflake Data Warehouse in order to analyse and visualise your data.

## Resolution

1. **Download Power BI Desktop**
   - Visit [https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/desktop/](https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/desktop/) to download and install Power BI Desktop.

2. **Open Power BI Desktop**
   - Launch Power BI Desktop after installation.

3. **Start the Data Connection**
   - Click the **Home** tab.
   - Select the **Get Data** button in the top left corner.
   - Click the drop-down arrow and select **More…**

4. **Choose the Snowflake Connector**
   - In the Get Data window, search for **Snowflake**.
   - Select the **Snowflake** connector and click **Connect**.

5. **Enter Connection Details**
   - In the configuration screen, enter the following:
     - **Server**: For example, `gp78166.europe-west2.gcp.snowflakecomputing.com`
     - **Warehouse**: The data warehouse assigned to your login, for example `COMPUTE_WH_DEMO`
     - **Data Connectivity Mode**: Use **Import** for best performance with large data sets.
   - Click **OK** to continue.

6. **Log In to Snowflake**
   - Choose your authentication method:
     - **Username and Password**: Enter your Snowflake login credentials and click **Connect**.
     - **Single Sign-On**: Sign in with your Microsoft account. After signing in, click **Connect** when returned to the screen.

7. **Select Data Tables**
   - If the connection is successful, the Navigator window will appear.
   - Select the tables you want to use in your Power BI report.

## Notes
- Ensure you have the correct permissions to access the Snowflake Data Warehouse and the assigned warehouse.
- Using the Import connectivity mode is recommended for large datasets as it provides better performance.
