# Client Mugshot Installation, Configuration, and Diagnostic Tips

## Problem
Users may need guidance on installing, configuring, and testing the Thin Client version of Client Mugshot for use with the MemberWebservice API, as well as troubleshooting its setup.

## Resolution

1. **Download the Client Mugshot Software and Documentation**
   - Go to [https://www.gladstonesoftware.com/software_downloads](https://www.gladstonesoftware.com/software_downloads) to download the installer and related documentation.

2. **Post-Installation Configuration**
   - Locate the file `Gladstone.Leisure.ClientMugshot.exe.config` in the installation directory.
   - Open this file in a text editor.
   - Find the line:
     ```
     <security mode="None">
     ```
   - Replace it with:
     ```
     <security mode="Transport">
     ```
   - Save the file.
   - Relaunch Client Mugshot for the changes to take effect.

3. **Manually Testing Client Mugshot Outside of Plus2**
   - Close Client Mugshot so it is not running.
   - Open Windows Notepad.
   - Type or copy-paste the following text (replace `12345678` with a relevant Member ID):
     ```
     MRM.plus2 Mugshot Member 12345678
     ```
     *Note: This text is case sensitive. Check all capitalisation and spacing carefully.*
   - Leave Notepad open on the screen. You do not need to save the file.
   - Run Client Mugshot. It will appear in the system tray.
   - In Notepad, highlight all the text and copy it (`Ctrl+A` then `Ctrl+C`).
   - Client Mugshot should automatically launch on the screen, the camera will turn on to show a moving image, and the Member ID will display at the top of the frame.
   - Click **Take Picture** to save the photo.
   - To verify, view the photo in Plus2 by searching for the record using the Member ID you entered.

## Notes

- Ensure you make the configuration file changes after installation to enable correct connectivity.
- The manual test process allows verification of Client Mugshot functionality without needing to run Plus2.
- Text formatting in Notepad must be exact for the test trigger to work.
