Android PEDs - Network Architecture
Problem
This article provides an overview of the different ways Android PEDs (Pin Entry Devices, the card payment terminals), such as the Verifone T650, can be connected to a network.
Resolution
Single Connection
- The PED is connected directly to a single network point (such as Wi-Fi or ethernet).
Multiple Connections
- The PED can connect to more than one network type (e.g., both Wi-Fi and ethernet).
Multiple Connections for Different Locations
- The PED is configured to use different network connections depending on its physical location or availability of networks.
Complex networks
- Multiple PEDs connected across various locations and networks.
Notes
- This article summarises the typical network connection options for Android PEDs like the Verifone T650.
- Refer to your specific device documentation for configuration steps or architectural diagrams.
- For the network addresses and ports a T650P must be able to reach, see Android T650P PED Connection and Firewall Requirements. Terms are explained in Android PED Terminology.
