What Does the Uncoupling of the Hardware Service from Gladstone360 Mean for You?

Problem

Previously, every time a new version of the Gladstone360 POS module was released, you also had to update the Hardware Service on each PC, since both needed to be using the same version. This process made upgrades less seamless and more time-consuming.

Root Cause

Previously, Gladstone360 POS and the Hardware Service were tightly linked and required matching versions to function together.

Resolution

  1. If you are running a version of the Hardware Service earlier than 4.23, you will be prompted to upgrade to the latest version when you install a new version of Gladstone360 POS.
  2. If you are running Hardware Service version 4.23 or higher, you will not be prompted to update the Hardware Service when upgrading Gladstone360 POS. The Hardware Service will only need an update if there is a specific software change.
