NFC Wallet Reader Driver and Installation Guide for Windows 11
Problem
You need to set up a Gladstone NFC Digital Wallet Reader on a Windows 11 computer to read NFC Digital Membership Cards or Tickets from Apple or Google Wallet.
Resolution
Check Device Type
- Ensure you are using a Gladstone NFC Digital Wallet Reader. Off-the-shelf VTAP100 devices will not work; the reader must be pre-programmed by Gladstone with specific security keys.
Connect the NFC Wallet Reader
- Plug the Gladstone NFC Digital Wallet Reader into an available USB port on your Windows 11 device.
Open Device Manager
- Search for and open "Device Manager" (you may need administrator rights).
Wait for Device Recognition
- The Device Manager window may refresh several times as Windows 11 automatically detects the device.
Confirm Driver Installation
- No additional manufacturer-specific driver is required. Windows 11 will automatically install a Microsoft-supplied driver.
- After the installation is complete, the device will appear as a USB Serial Device (COMx) under the Ports section in Device Manager.
Verify Driver Details (Optional)
- To view the driver used:
- Right-click on the USB Serial Device entry.
- Select Properties.
- Check the Driver tab for version information.
- To view the driver used:
Continue with Gladstone360 Configuration
- The NFC Wallet Reader is now ready to be configured within Gladstone360.
Notes
- There are two types of Gladstone NFC Digital Wallet Readers:
- Desktop Reader for Point of Sale
- Surface Mount Reader for Access Control
- For information on configuring the NFC Wallet Reader in Gladstone360, refer to the "Scanners and card readers" section in this article: Configuring Point of Sale Peripheral Hardware in Gladstone360.
