MT850 RFID Reader Driver and Installation Guide for Windows 11

Problem

You need to install the MT850 RFID USB reader and configure it in Gladstone360, so that RFID wristbands, tags, or stickers can be used for member identification and POS member search.

Root Cause

The MT850 creates a virtual COM port via a driver, which must be correctly set up and configured within Gladstone360 to work with RFID media.

Resolution

1. Pre-Installation Checks

  1. Ensure you have local administrator rights as some steps may require them.
  2. Open Device Manager (search for it in Windows).
  3. Expand the Ports section and note the current configuration of COM ports.

2. Driver Installation for Windows 11

  1. The MT850 RFID reader driver is already included in Windows 11—no separate installation is usually required.
  2. Open Device Manager.
  3. Plug the MT850 into an available USB port.
  4. Wait a few minutes; Device Manager may refresh several times as Windows configures the reader.
  5. When complete, confirm the MT850 appears as USB Serial Port (COMxx) under the Ports section in Device Manager.

3. Gladstone360 Configuration

  1. Log in to Gladstone360 and open Contacts.
  2. Click the configuration cog (top right) and select Communication Ports.
  3. Identify the COM port the MT850 is using (as noted in Device Manager, e.g., COM7) and click Edit.
  4. Set the following options:
    • Module: Front of House
    • Device Type: Swipe Reader
    • Leave all other options as default.
  5. Click SAVE to store the settings.

The COM port will now be listed as "Front of House" and "Swipe Reader." The MT850 is now ready for assigning RFID wristbands, tags, and stickers to member records or for searching records by RFID media.
