## Problem
Users need to generate X and Z reports for Verifone Cloud Android PEDs within Gladstone360, either as a day-to-date snapshot (X Report) or at the end of the day (Z Report). There may also be issues related to incorrect configuration or hardware availability when generating these reports.

## Resolution

### Prerequisites
- POS Hardware Service must be installed and up to date.
- Transactions and refunds must be successfully processed via the PED from Gladstone360 POS.
- You need a Gladstone360 account with permissions to process X and Z Reports.

### How to Generate an X Report

An X Report provides a snapshot of transaction totals at any time during the day. It does not reset the totals and can be generated multiple times in a day.

1. **Log in and check configuration:**
    - Log in to Gladstone360.
    - Navigate to **POS**.
    - Click the **Settings** cog.
    - Select **PC Settings**.
    - In the **Hardware Service** section, ensure the correct site is selected.
    - In the **Chip & Pin** section, verify that the **PED Type** is set to "Verifone Cloud" and the **Verifone PED ID** is populated.

2. **Generate the X Report:**
    - In the **Chip & Pin** section, click **Reports**.
    - Click **X Read**.
    - The X Report will be displayed on screen for review.
    - To print the report, click **Print**.
*Note: The X Report is printed on the point-of-sale receipt printer, not on the PED.*

**X Report content includes:**
- Totals for each card type (e.g., Mastercard, Visa), showing:
    - Sale quantity and amount
    - Refund quantity and amount
    - Credit total
    - Debit total
    - Net total
- Combined totals for total sales, total refunds, and net total.

### How to Generate a Z Report

A Z Report is intended for end-of-day use. It displays and then resets the transaction totals for the PED.

2. **Generate the Z Report:**
    - In the **Chip & Pin** section, click **Reports**.
    - Click **Z Read**.
    - Read the on-screen confirmation message.
    - Click **YES** to confirm and continue the process, or **No** to cancel.
    - If **YES** is selected, the Z Report will be displayed on screen for review.
    - To print the report, click **Print**.
*Note: The Z Report is printed on the point-of-sale receipt printer, not on the PED.*

**Z Report content includes:**
- Totals for each card type (e.g., Mastercard, Visa), showing:
    - Sale quantity and amount
    - Refund quantity and amount
    - Credit total
    - Debit total
    - Net total
- Combined totals for total sales, total refunds, and net total.

## Notes

### Troubleshooting

- **Invalid Verifone PED ID:**
If the PED ID is incorrect, you may receive an error such as "Device does not exist."

- **PED Powered Off:**
If the PED is unavailable, you may see an error such as "POI is unavailable."

- **PED Already Assigned to Another Site:**
If the PED is assigned to another site, saving the configuration will fail with an error message.

- **No totals on X Report despite activity:**
Check if a Z Report has already been generated, as this resets the totals for the shift or day.

### Additional Information

- The X Report can be run multiple times during a day and does not reset figures.
- The Z Report is typically run once daily at the end of a trading day and resets the figures after generation.
- Make sure the Hardware Service is properly installed or updated before using Verifone functionality. See the Hardware Service install guide if unsure.
