Using SMS with Communication Jobs
Problem
You want Gladstone Go to send text messages to members, for example after a Direct Debit rejection, by activating SMS in Operator and adding it as a channel on a communication job.
Resolution
Activate SMS
- Log in to Operator.
- Go to
Automation Portal > Dashboard(or Communication Jobs). - Click Activate SMS.
- Enter your sender name, the name members see texts from (3 to 11 characters).
- Click Confirm.
Add SMS to a job (example: DD rejection)
- Go to
Automation Portal > Communication Jobs, create a new communication job and name it. - Choose a DD Rejection job type and click Next.
- Choose a repeating frequency and tick Email and SMS.
- Choose the email template and review the SMS text (per language, if you use more than one), then click Next.
- Set the schedule and save.
- Go to
Send a test SMS
- From the Job Content page, select Send test SMS, enter the mobile number to send to and click Send Test.
- Placeholders such as the member's name are not filled in on a test, because the test is not linked to a member profile. Test SMS uses SMS credits.
Notes
- SMS is currently available for DD rejection jobs and service jobs.
- Your SMS account is created with some starter credits. Contact your Gladstone account manager to buy more. Credits are bought in bundles and last 12 months.
- Existing jobs can have SMS added as a channel once SMS is enabled.
- If texts are not arriving: check the job is running and has SMS ticked, and that you have credits left. Then contact Gladstone Support, who can check the SMS account and sending history.
