# Using an Existing Logo in an Invoice Template in Go Operator

HTML version: [Using an Existing Logo in an Invoice Template in Go Operator](https://support.gladstonesoftware.cloud/gooperator/using-an-existing-logo-in-an-invoice-template-in-go-operator)

## Problem
Administrators setting up an invoice, credit note or debit note template in Go Operator want to reuse a logo that has already been uploaded, rather than upload the same image again for each template.

## Resolution

1. **Open the template**
   - Go to `Invoicing > Invoice Templates`.
   - Choose **Invoice Template**, **Credit Note Template** or **Debit Note Template**, then open the template you want to change, or select **Add New Template**.
   - If the template settings are hidden, select **Show Settings**.

2. **Search for the logo**
   - Under **Upload logo**, select **Use existing logo**. The **Search Logo** window opens.
   - Enter the logo's full file name, including its extension (for example, `club-logo.png`). This is the name the logo was given when it was uploaded, followed by its file extension. Upper and lower case are treated the same.
   - Select **Search**, or press Enter. If a logo with that name exists, a preview of it appears; select the preview to see it full screen.

3. **Use the logo**
   - Select **Use logo**. The logo's name appears in the template's logo field and the template preview updates.
   - A message confirms "Logo selected. Save the template to keep it."

4. **Save the template**
   - Select **Save**. The logo is not kept until you do.

## Notes

- You need permission to update invoicing to use this. Without it, **Use existing logo** is unavailable and shows "You do not have permission to perform this action."
- The search finds one logo by its exact name. You cannot browse or search for part of a name, so keep a note of the names you give logos when you upload them.
- The name must contain no spaces, only letters, numbers, hyphens and underscores, must not start or end with a hyphen or underscore, and must end with a file extension. It can be up to 105 characters long, including the extension. If it breaks one of these rules, a message under the search box explains which.
- If no logo has that name, the search shows an error and nothing changes. Check the spelling and the extension (for example, `.png` rather than `.jpg`).
- Logos are shared across your organisation's invoice, credit note and debit note templates, so a logo uploaded for one template can be used in any other.
- To upload a new logo instead, select **Upload logo**. To take the logo off a template, use **Remove logo**, then save.
