Member Marketing Preferences

Problem

This article explains how to configure marketing preferences in Gladstone Go, including setting up subscriptions (topics), communication channels (how messages are sent), and opt-in text. It also covers how members can manage their own preferences.

Resolution

1. Configure Subscriptions Using Audience Builder (in Go)

  1. In Operator, go to Automation Portal > Audiences.
  2. Either create a new audience or edit an existing one.
  3. Set the Audience Type to Marketing.
  4. Click the "+" button and enter a Name and Description for the new marketing subscription.
  5. Save the changes.

This will:

2. Configure Subscriptions Without Audience Builder (in GMC)

  1. Go to GMC > Configuration Manager > Configuration.
  2. Select Shared Global, then Campaigns & Channels.
  3. Create a new campaign and set the Category to Marketing.
  4. Save your changes.

Important: Subscriptions created in GMC are not automatically applied to default marketing preferences or existing member accounts. You will need to contact the Gladstone team for help with these tasks.

3. Configure Marketing Channels

  1. In Operator, navigate to Configuration > Modules > Configure.
  2. Search for the word "Channels" to find the field "Communication channels linked to marketing opt-in".
  3. Select Manage and enter EMAIL, SMS, and/or MAIL separated by commas.
  4. Save changes.

4. Configure Opt-in Text

This is the text shown to members when they join through Go and are asked to opt in to marketing.

  1. In Operator, go to Configuration > Modules > Configure.
  2. Search for the word "Text" to find the field "Text for marketing opt-in".
  3. Select Manage and enter the text you want to display to members. The default wording is along the lines of "I want to receive information on products and discounts via email"; it can be changed.
  4. Save changes.

5. Member Management of Preferences

Members can manage their own marketing preferences in the My Account section in Go:
