Configuration for DMCCA Requirements
Problem
You need to configure GladstoneGo so that membership selection and purchase meet the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act (DMCCA) requirements on invitation to purchase and price transparency, enforceable from 18 February 2026.
Resolution
Show the main characteristics of the membership
- Membership tag descriptions in Operator are displayed during purchase.
- In Operator, select Configuration from the side menu, then go to
Centre Configuration > Tags > Tag Groups. - Select the Membership Facilities tag group.
- Click the edit icon next to a tag, edit the Description as required, then confirm.
- Repeat for any other tags that need updating, then save.
Show the total price and minimum contract term
- Make sure your product configuration displays the main price and includes any mandatory costs, such as a joining fee. This article does not cover full product pricing configuration.
- To enforce a minimum term, in the GMC go to
Configuration Manager > Configurationand select the Shared Global product. - Go to the Subscription Types tab, search for the membership and click the edit icon.
- Enter the Contract Term (select the type By Date) and Save.
Set the trader identity, business address and business email address
- These are set in Operator:
- Operator Trading Name: the identity of the trader.
- Business Address: the business or service address.
- Help Email: the business email address.
- In Operator, select Configuration from the side menu, then go to
Modules > Configure. - Search for each value, edit it as needed and save.
- If different sites have different trading names or addresses, create site-specific values for Operator Trading Name and Business Address using the site override options.
- These are set in Operator:
Set the right to cancel (cooling-off period)
- A cooling-off period of at least 14 days is required for all memberships.
- In the GMC, go to
Configuration Manager > Configurationand select Gladstone360 Front of House. - Open the Membership Settings section and enter a Cooling-off period (minimum 14 days).
- Optionally set a price level or status to assign to members who cancel during the cooling-off period.
- Save your changes.
Notes
- The DMCCA requires display of: main characteristics, total price, minimum contract term, joining fee, trader/business identity, address, email, and the right to cancel.
- Only the first DMCCA provision (invitation to purchase and price transparency, enforceable from 18 February 2026) is covered here. Other provisions will be enforced later and may need further configuration; this guidance will be updated.
- Changing the Operator Trading Name may also affect email templates and DD Confirmation details elsewhere in the system.
- Common questions about the legislation (cooling-off, reminders, self-service cancellation, refunds) are answered in DMCCA FAQ.
- More information about the DMCCA is on the UK legislation website.
