Class Alert Lists and Push Notifications
Problem
You want members to be able to join a Class Alert List for a full class on Go Book and be emailed, or sent a push notification in the Go mobile app, when a space opens, so cancelled places are filled.
Resolution

- Go to
Plus2 > Configuration > Bookingsand open the reservation or class. - Tick Waiting List and click Save.

- Go to
Set the alert rules in Operator
- Go to
Operator > Modules > Configure, search Waiting List (related settings also appear under alert list), and set the enable switch, opening window, Cut Off Period in Minutes, Deeplink base URL, Excluded Price Levels, Excluded Statuses, Search Duration in Hours and Sites To Search For. - What each setting does, with recommended values: GladstoneGo: Alert List Notification Setup.
- Go to

- Edit the waiting-list email template in
Create the communication job
- Go to
Automation Portal > Communication Jobsand add a job using the Fill space in class from a waiting list type and the class alert email template, set to repeat several times a day. - Run it more often than your online cancellation cut-off (for example, hourly or every 30 minutes), or late cancellations will not trigger an alert in time.
- Go to

Add push to your class alert job
- The push toggle appears once the class alert email template is selected in the job.
- New job:
Automation Portal > Communication Jobs > +> name > frequency > class alert template > toggle push notifications on > edit the title and message (and other languages if used) > finish the set-up > Save and Add Job. - Existing job: open your class alert job > toggle push notifications on > edit if needed > Save.
Notes
- When a class is full, members can join its Class Alert List. If a space opens, everyone on the list is emailed (and, if they use the Go mobile app, sent a push notification) at the same time. The first to book gets the place; the alert does not hold it.
- Alert lists work for reservations (classes) only, not activities.
- What members see: on a full class, a Join the Class Alert List button; an email when a space opens, with a link to book; and an option to Remove me from the alert list. Members can also remove themselves from
My Account > Class alerts; tell them how. - The email repeats on every run of the job while the space stays unfilled, so very short intervals spam customers.
- Without the Waiting List tick on the class in Plus2, the alert button does not appear, whatever Operator says. Gladstone can bulk-tick many classes for you; contact Gladstone Support.
- Changes in Plus2 can take about 20 minutes to show in Go. Members may also need to refresh their browser.
- Some third-party app providers treat the booked and waiting lists as one, so the class still shows as full. Customers should use the book link in the alert email.
- Alert button missing on a full class: check the alert list is enabled, the excluded price levels and statuses, and the Plus2 Waiting List tick.
- Alert emails not sent or sent too late: check the class alert job is running and its interval against the cancellation cut-off, and that emails are enabled on test.
- Push notifications prerequisites: the Go mobile app set up for your organisation, and a OneSignal App ID from Gladstone. If you do not have one, ask your Gladstone contact before starting. Push notifications currently work for class alert list messages only.
- What app users see: a push notification as well as the email when a space opens. Tapping it opens the class in the app (they may need to log in) so they can book. If the space has already gone, they see a message saying they have missed out. On Android, they can also choose to remove themselves from the alert list.
