# Is on a Course Filter

## Problem
You want to target members in the Comms Portal based on whether they are currently attending, due to start, or not booked onto a class or course, using the **Is on a course** filter.

## Resolution

1. **Add the filter**
   - In the **Comms Portal**, when you are creating a segment or selecting your audience while creating a message, click **Add Filter**.
   - Click **Is on a course**.

2. **Choose an option**
   - Select one of the four options:

     | Option | Who it targets |
     |---|---|
     | **Both** | All members who are either currently attending a class or have a future booking that has not yet started. |
     | **Current** | Members who are currently attending a class or course. |
     | **Future** | Members whose booking or class start date is in the future, meaning they have not yet started their class or course. |
     | **None** | Members who are not currently booked onto any class or course. |

3. **Check who matches**
   - Click **Update Preview** to see which members match.

## Notes

- Messages will not send until at least one person matches the audience.
