# How to Enable Replacement Sessions in My Courses

## Problem
You want to enable replacement sessions (planned absences) on a course in GoLearn, and set the optional rules that control pricing, level and timeframe for replacement bookings.

## Resolution

1. **Open your courses**
   - Navigate to your **Courses** (in the menu alongside Schemes and Levels, Classes, Class Name Definitions, Badges, Session Plan Groups and School Swim).

2. **Edit the course**
   - Click **Edit** against the course you want it enabled in, or create a new course.

3. **Enable planned absences**
   - In the **Replacement Sessions** section, tick **Enable Planned Absences**.

4. **Configure the optional settings (if applicable)**
   - **Charge Difference**: typically you book the member into a class with the same level/course/price as the one they are in, for continuity. If you allow them to book into an entirely different class with a different price point, and **Charge Difference** is ticked, you are asked for the price difference when you complete the booking.
   - **Restrict by Level**: when ticked, the replacement session booking process only shows classes with the same level as the class the member is absent from, and you cannot edit this level.
   - **Restrict by Weeks**: insert a number in the **Restrict by Weeks** field to restrict replacement sessions to within that number of weeks of the planned absence.

## Notes

- The Replacement Sessions feature must be enabled in your system. If you do not have it, contact the support team to request that it is enabled.
