How does the ability grouping work in CoachPortal?
Problem
You see an ability group icon next to members in the CoachPortal Register section and want to know how to use it to group members within their class for registers and assessments.
Resolution
Open the ability group pop-up
- In CoachPortal, within the Register section, click the ability group icon next to a member.
- A pop-up appears showing Assigned ability groups (initially "No ability groups assigned") and Available ability groups, with a Close button.
Assign the member to a group
- Select the ability group the member needs to go into. The meaning of the ability group options is completely down to you and your company and how you want to use them.
Check the register
- On the Register section, you now see the member listed under their ability group (for example, "Ability group A").
Assess by group
- When you go through to the Assessments page (Assess by member), the members are split up by their ability group.
Notes
- This feature is not mandatory. You will see it in your CoachPortal, but it does not need to be used.
- Example: you have one Gymnastics Beginner (4-7 years) class on a Monday, with 30 people booked in and 3 coaches. You could group them into Group A, Group B and Group C, so the coaches have quick and easy access to their members to complete the register and assessments.
- When a member is assigned to an ability group and then needs to move to a different class, they should retain their grouping once the movement to the new class is complete.
- You can change the ability grouping at any time by going into the register, clicking the icon, removing the old group and assigning a new one, or none at all.
- If you use ability groups, they are present throughout the registers and assessments sections in CoachPortal, as well as the alerts.
