## Problem
An existing HomePortal account holder wants to book a class online and pay by Direct Debit, and you need to know each step of the journey from logging in to the booking confirmation.

## Resolution

1. **Log in to HomePortal**
   - The online joining journey begins on your GoLearn online joining page.
   - Use the **Log in to HomePortal** section.
   - Enter the email address and the password.
   - Click **Log in**.

2. **Choose the member**
   - Click on the member in the HomePortal account.
   - Click **Book classes** against that member.

3. **Search for centres**
   - You are taken to the **Online booking** page, where you can search by location (or click **Use my location**).
   - Search by activity.
   - Click **Show Centres**. If there are multiple centres within the region, you can select the correct centre on the next page.

4. **Filter the classes**
   - All available classes within the selected centre appear on screen. The filters on the left-hand side help decide which session best suits the customer:
     - **Show classes that are full**
     - **Type of Course**: **Weekly Lessons** = a continuous course; **Holiday and Short Courses** = a course with a fixed end date.
     - **Day of Week**
     - **Activity**
   - Once you filter by **Type of Course**, the levels created in your Scheme Portal appear so the customer can select the correct level for their booking. For example, an umbrella level called **Learn to Swim Stage 1 - 7** can be created; when it is selected, all stages from 1 to 7 are listed to choose from.
   - Filter by the required stage and the required day. The classes shown are those relevant to the search. Each class shows the teacher, day and time, start date, price and spaces left.

5. **Add the class to the basket**
   - Click **Book this course** on the class you wish to book. You are asked whether you want to continue shopping or check out:
     - **Continue shopping**: to book a second session in the week, or book a sibling's class at the same time, and add another class to the basket.
     - **Checkout**: to book and pay for this one booking.
   - Select the member who will attend the class (or **Add new member**) by clicking the relevant member's name.

6. **Select the payment plan**
   - Select the relevant Direct Debit payment plan. The options show the monthly amount, the initial cost and the number of sessions (block payment options may also be listed).
   - Click **Continue** (a voucher can be applied at this stage using **Apply Voucher**).

7. **Review the payment summary**
   - The payment summary confirms the upfront payment the customer must pay today, including:
     - **Monthly Direct Debit amount**
     - **Direct Debit date**
     - **Upfront Cycle Fee**
     - **Total to pay today**
   - Click **Continue**.

8. **Enter the Direct Debit details**
   - On the **Payment Details** page, enter the Direct Debit (bank or building society) details: **Account holder name**, **Account number** and **Sort code**.
   - Click **Terms and Conditions** and read through them.
   - Tick to agree to the Terms and Conditions and the declarations above. By clicking **Confirm**, the customer confirms that:
     - if the bank account is a personal account, it is in their name;
     - they are the only signatory required to authorise the Direct Debit;
     - they have read the Terms and Conditions.
   - Click **Confirm**.

9. **Check the Direct Debit confirmation and guarantee**
   - Read through the **Direct Debit Confirmation** and check all the information is correct (course, monthly amount, Direct Debit date, account details, service user number, the company name that will appear on the bank statement, and the reference).
   - Read through the **Direct Debit Guarantee**.
   - Click **Accept**.

10. **Enter the bill payer's details**
    - Fill in the bill payer's details (first name, last name, contact details, postcode and so on).
    - You can auto-fill many of the details by ticking **Use account details** at the top of the form.
    - Click **Continue**.

11. **Pay the upfront cost by card**
    - On the next page, enter the card details to pay the upfront cost.
    - If successful, a **Booking successfully completed** message is shown and the booking journey is complete. The customer will receive a confirmation email.
