How to Add a Receipt Printer to Plus2 or Gladstone360
Applies to: Plus2, Gladstone360
Problem
Users need to configure an Epson receipt printer for use with Plus2 or Gladstone360, so it functions correctly as the primary point-of-sale (POS) printer with appropriate font settings.
Root Cause
You cannot use the same printer simultaneously in both Plus2 and Gladstone360 on the same PC, as the Gladstone360 hardware service keeps the printer engaged in the background.
Resolution
Prerequisites
- An Epson receipt printer installed and connected to your PC.
- A Plus2 or Gladstone360 account with sufficient permissions.
- If the PointOfSale tab is greyed out in Plus2, you need a user with higher permissions.
- For A4 printer setup, refer to the appropriate guide for A4 printers.
Configuring a Receipt Printer in Plus2
- Log in to Plus2.
- Navigate to
Configuration > System > My Computer > PointOfSaletab.- Note: If the PointOfSale tab is greyed out, use an account with higher permissions.
- Select your Epson receipt printer as the Primary printer.
- Set the Font to A11 (if available).
- Set the Font Size to 8 or 9.
- Click Save.
- Log out and back in to Plus2 for the changes to take effect.
Configuring a Receipt Printer in Gladstone360
- Log in to Gladstone360.
- Select the POS module.
- Click the cog icon in the top-right corner and select Printers.
- Select your Epson receipt printer as the Primary printer.
- Set the Font to A11 (if available).
- Set the Font Size to 8 or 9.
- Click Save.
Notes
- Permissions: If the PointOfSale tab is greyed out in Plus2, a user with higher permissions must complete the configuration.
- Printer Usage: The same receipt printer cannot be used in both Plus2 and Gladstone360 on the same PC at the same time. If you want to use the printer in Plus2, unassign it from Gladstone360 first.
- Fonts: If Font A11 is not available, use the nearest available option; A11 is recommended but may not be present for all printer drivers.
- Session Restart (Plus2): Some settings require you to log out and back in to take effect.
- A4 Printers: This guide covers receipt (thermal) printers only. For A4 printer setup, refer to the article: "Configure an A4 printer to Plus2 or Gladstone360".
- Troubleshooting:
- If the receipt printer is not working in Plus2 but works in Gladstone360, ensure the printer is not assigned to both applications at once.
- If settings do not take effect after saving in Plus2, log out and back in.
